One important aspect of self-care is fasting
from those things that do us harm
or simply require that we rest and re-set.
This week will focus on the benefits of fasting.
Many believe that fasting cleans your body
and that periodic fasts are
necessary to flush out the poisons
and heal the all sorts of diseases,
including but not limited to rheumatism, heart disease,
poor circulation, stress, acne, hay fever, and so many others.

Fasting slows your aging process.
Fasting sharpens your mental process
and aids and improves your sight,
hearing, taste, touch, smell,
and all sensory faculties.
Fasting breaks the addiction
to junk food.
Fasting can break the power
of an uncontrollable appetite.

Don’t allow the enemies in your life
to cause you to focus
more on your appetite or circumstances
than on the gifts
released when you employ
the powerful weapon of fasting.Fasting is not just a physical discipline;
it can be a spiritual feast.

Water is the great flushing agent in fasting.

Fasting helps you physically because it cleanses your body and gives your organs time to rest. It also helps you “spring clean” in a spiritual sense because it makes you sensitive to the desires of the Lord. Unforgiveness, bitterness, and the like can all be linked to illnesses, fatigue, stress, and more.

It is said that some things cannot be accomplished
without fasting.
The scriptures teach us not to
broadcast our fasts
by putting on a gloomy face
but do so in secret
so that you may be rewarded
in secret.

When you eliminate food from your diet for a number of days, your spirit becomes uncluttered by the things of this world and amazingly sensitive to the things of Spirit.
