“By practicing mindfulness we can change the way our brain functions.
Most important, we can change it in the direction of balance
and in fact in the direction of kindness.”
Tim Ryan, from Reduce Stress, Improve Performance,
and Recapture the American Spirit
I breathe in peace.
I breathe out love.
I breathe in awareness.
I breathe out truth.
I breathe in stillness.
I breathe out the whole being of now.
I breathe in wisdom.
I breathe out wholeness.
I breathe in release.
I breathe out forgiveness.
In this breath, I am still.
I sit or lay comfortably.
My spine is straight.
My feet touch the floor, if I am sitting.
My hands are loosely in my lap.
Or my index finger touches my thumb, tip to tip,
ever so lightly.
My eyes are closed,
or slightly open, looking down.
I focus on my breath as my anchor.
I return to it as the energy of life.
It breathes me,
and I become the breath.
I pay attention to how the breath blesses each part of my body,
freeing it, liberating it, loving it.
I realize that my breath is love
and inside each breath
love breathes me.
